Release Date: October 10,2017
The Akron Zoo will hold the 30th annual Boo at the Zoo, presented by Acme Fresh Market, on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 14-15, 21-22 & 28-29 from 11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. The doors will open at 11 a.m. for presale ticket holders only.
During Boo at the Zoo, trick-or-treaters will follow candy passports to the Enchanted Forest, Candy Land, the Wild West, Farmland, Under the Sea and seven other treat stations located around the zoo.
This year the zoo will have new decorations, photo opportunities and a new menu in Komodo Kingdom. Both children and adults are encouraged to come dressed in costume, but ask that adults don’t wear masks or face coverings during this non-scary Halloween event.
The Akron Zoo will also be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project, a program designed for trick-or-treaters with allergies. Parents and children with food allergies can ask the volunteers at each of the stations for a non-food treat.
Tickets can be purchased at the zoo or online at akronzoo.org. Presale tickets, purchased 24 hours in advance, are $12 for trick-or-treaters, $9 for non-member observers and free for Akron Zoo member observers. Day-of ticket prices are $14 for trick-or-treaters, $11 for non-member observers and $2 for Akron Zoo member observers. Children under two are free, but they must have a ticket to enter the zoo. Non-Akron Zoo members will be charged $3 per vehicle for parking.
The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and admission is $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $9 for children (ages 2-14). Children under two are free and parking is $3. For more information visit www.akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.
