Summit Choral Summit Choral Society’s Performance Choir to Represent Ohio at Prestigious International Children’s Choir Festival in Denver

April 30, 2025, Akron, OH — Summit Choral Society’s Performance Choir, under the direction of Heather Cooper, Principal Conductor, has been selected to represent the state of Ohio at the acclaimed Sing A Mile High International Children’s Choir Festival, taking place June 22-27, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.

This remarkable event gathers outstanding children’s choirs from across the country and around the world for five days of choral artistry and cultural exchange. All participating choirs will sing together as a massed choir under the direction of world-renowned guest composers and conductors Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory. Through this experience, local Akron OH children will attend rehearsals and performances in the state-of-the-art June Swaner Gates Auditorium at the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Denver campus.

In addition to the incredible musical experiences, the greater Akron community’s young singers will enjoy enriching excursions, including a visit to Dinosaur Ridge, where they’ll explore active archaeological sites and even sluice for dinosaur remnants firsthand as well as a trip to the iconic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.

Summit Choral Society’s nationally recognized, award-winning programs continue to offer outstanding music education and performance opportunities for youth. Registration for the fall session of the children’s choir program is now open.
