METRO RTA Offers Free Rides on Saturdays & Sundays in June, July, and August for the Fourth Year
May, 19, 2025, Summit County— METRO Regional Transit Authority is bringing back Free Fare Summer Weekends for the fourth year in a row. Riders can take any METRO Direct route for free on Saturdays & Sundays through June, July, and August. This provides riders with 27 days of free rides on 22 eligible METRO Direct routes.
“With so many weekend events in our area and, most notably, Akron’s 200th year celebration, riders have the opportunity to get to and from community events and celebrations, removing transportation as a barrier,” said Molly Becker, METRO’s PR & Marketing Director.
Free weekend rides begin Sunday, June 1, 2025 and end on Sunday, August 31, 2025. METRO ADA riders will also qualify for the free weekend rides. Refunds or credits will not be issued for tickets and passes previously activated or purchased.
