Akron Municipal Court Welcomes Magistrate Brian Coffman
Akron, Ohio, August 26, 2026 – Earlier this month, Akron Municipal Court Judge Nicole Walker appointed Brian Coffman to serve as a full-time Magistrate in her courtroom. Judge Walker administered Magistrate Coffman’s oath of office on Friday, August 14, 2026.
Magistrate Coffman is a native of Portage County; he was born in Ravenna and graduated from Waterloo High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University where he graduated summa cum laude. Upon graduation, Magistrate Coffman held management positions with Positran, Inc., Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Lucas Aerospace.
Magistrate Coffman then attended law school at the University of Akron, earning his Juris Doctor degree. He has been a licensed attorney in Ohio since 1998 and prior to joining the Akron Municipal Court, he spent nearly three decades in private practice.
“Magistrate Coffman has been a terrific addition to my team,” said Judge Nicole Walker. “I am grateful for his legal expertise and professionalism.”
Judge Nicole Walker was first elected to the Akron Municipal Court bench in November 2017 and was reelected in 2023.
