METRO RTA to Hold Public Hearings on Proposed Fixed-Route Service Changes
May 2, 2025, AKRON — METRO Regional Transit Authority will host three public hearings to gather feedback on proposed changes to the fixed-route bus network. These adjustments aim to improve frequency and align service with rider demand, following METRO’s 2020 Strategic Plan and the 2023 Reimagined Network. Hearings will be held at the following times and locations:
Wednesday, May 14, 7:00 PM – 7:45 PM (Route 8 Changes)

These hearings are being conducted in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Title VI requirements. Proposed service changes include: an increased frequency on Route 8 from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes during peak hours; an increased frequency on Route 29 from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes during peak hours, with added trips in both directions to the Corey and Carnegie Avenue area; and the introduction of service starting at 8:00 am for all Sunday routes.
