Curated Storefront Announces Leadership Transition
Heather Meeker Named New Executive Director of Akron Arts Organization
AKRON, Ohio (May 23, 2025) — Curated Storefront, a leading public art initiative that transforms vacant storefronts into vibrant gallery spaces throughout downtown Akron, today announced the appointment of Heather Meeker as its new Executive Director. Meeker succeeds the organization’s founder, Rick Rogers, who has led the organization since 2016 and who will transition to serve on the organization's Board of Directors.
Meeker comes to Curated Storefront from Summit Artspace, where she demonstrated a strong commitment to artist-centric programming and community engagement. Under her leadership, Summit Artspace expanded its reach and impact throughout the greater Akron region.
"We are thrilled to welcome Heather to the Curated Storefront team," said Shirley Smith, Chair of the Curated Storefront Board of Directors. "Her proven track record of results-driven leadership and deep connections within the local arts community make her the ideal person to build upon the strong foundation established under Rick's guidance."
During his tenure, Rick transformed Curated Storefront from a grassroots initiative into a nationally recognized arts organization, installing hundreds of exhibitions in previously vacant spaces and contributing significantly to the cultural and economic revitalization of downtown Akron.
"Leading Curated Storefront has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career," said Rick. "I'm confident that under Heather's leadership, the organization will continue to thrive and expand its impact on both the arts community and the city of Akron. I look forward to continuing to support this vital work as a board member."
Meeker brings extensive experience in arts administration, fundraising, and community development to her new role. Her artist-centered approach aligns perfectly with Curated Storefront's mission to support local creators while enhancing public spaces.
"I am honored to join Curated Storefront at this exciting time," said Meeker. "Rick has built an extraordinary organization that serves as a model for how the arts can transform urban spaces. I look forward to working with our talented team, artists, and community partners to further Curated Storefront's mission and explore new opportunities for growth and innovation."
Meeker will officially assume the role of Executive Director on June 9, 2025. The organization will host a community reception to welcome Meeker and honor Rick's contributions later this summer.
