The University of Akron School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration Proudly Presents UADC Fall 2025
November 6, 2025, Akron, OH – The University of Akron (UA) School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration (DTAA) is pleased to announce its Fall 2025 University of Akron Dance Company (UADC) Concert. Directed by Christine Howe and featuring works by Christine Howe, Colleen Barnes, and Lindsay Giedl. The concert will be held in Sandefur Theatre, located in Guzzetta Hall on the University of Akron campus. Performances will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 7:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at this link.
The University of Akron Dance Program offers both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Dance. Students receive extensive training in technique, performance, and choreography, which is supported by academic coursework in dance history, pedagogy, and physical analysis. Each semester, students have the opportunity to audition and perform in a UADC production.
The Fall 2025 UADC concert features pieces from Christine Howe, Colleen Barnes, and Lindsay Giedl. Howe brings to the stage a contemporary work and music collaboration with Chris Coles and University of Akron Music Students. Barnes crafted a ballet work to premiere. Giedl worked with dance students in a weeklong residence to create a jazz piece to be performed in November’s concert.
Performances are held on Friday, November 21, 2025, and Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 7:00pm.

Christine Howe (director/choreographer) is a dance educator, performer, and maker serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at The University of Akron. She holds a BFA from The University of Akron and an MFA with performance emphasis from The University of Iowa. She received the Iowa Arts Fellowship and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant under the direction of Rebekah Kowal.
Colleen Barnes (choreographer) is currently the Area Chair and Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Akron’s School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration, where she choreographs and teaches a range of dance-related subjects. Since she started working at the University of Akron in fall of 2021, Colleen has co-authored the NASD (National Association of Schools of Dance) self-study, rewritten the curricula for the BA and BFA programs, and collaborated with School of Music faculty on multiple projects which have so far included the UA Lyric Opera, the UA Steel Drum Band, and the UA Concert Choir (twice).
Lindsay Giedl (choreographer) is a choreographer, teacher, and dancer. She was a founding member of CADE:NCE – Contemporary African Dance Ensemble: New Conscious Explorations under the direction of Tamara Thomas. A graduate of The University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, she can be seen in the indie film “The Last of Robin Hood”, “Honey 4”, as well as Corey Smith’s music video “Honky Tonkin’ in My Blood”.
