“Public safety begins with strong relationships,” said Mayor Malik. “National Night Out is an opportunity for neighbors to connect, for families to spend time together, and for residents to build trust with the officers and first responders who serve their community every day. Those connections are what make neighborhoods stronger and help create a safer Akron for everyone.”

The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic/religious groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials. In all, more than 38 million people are expected to participate in National Night Out in over 16,000 communities across all 50 states and beyond.
