Clerk of Courts Galonski, Prosecutor Kolkovich and Summit Legal Defenders Team Up for 3rd Annual Expungement Filing Day Event
September 10, 2026, AKRON, OHIO — Summit County Clerk of Courts Tavia Galonski and Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich today announced their annual Expungement Filing Day Event for individuals who have convictions in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas eligible to be expunged or sealed under Ohio Law.
“This year my office is once again proud to offer one more step towards restorative justice by partnering with Prosecutor Kolkovich to assist returning citizens with sealing and possibly expunging their records,” said Clerk Galonski. “At our annual expungement filing clinic, we offer the chance for these citizens to go on to be productive neighbors who are able to seek employment and housing.”
“A past mistake on someone’s record can continue to affect them years later, negatively impacting potential housing and job opportunities,” said Prosecutor Kolkovich. “Through this event, we are making record expungement more accessible to low-level offenders in Summit County and giving deserving community members a second chance with a clean slate.”
The event will be held on October 16th, 2026, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Summit County Courthouse (209 S High St, Akron, OH 44308) in the Honorable Judge Oldfield’s Courtroom.
Ohio law requires a $50 filing fee to process all expungements, but that fee may be waived based on income. The Summit Legal Defenders will assist in sealing and expunging records as permitted by Ohio Law. No registration is required for this event.
