Akron Zoo Sets New Attendance Record
April 9, 2026, AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo set a new attendance record for highest general admission day on Wednesday, April 8 with 7,400 guests. The previous record was 7,392 set on May 11, 2025.
The zoo was celebrating Wear Blue Day on April 8, presented by Summit County Children Services. All guests who wore blue for the day received free admission. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Wear Blue Day initiative aims to raise awareness on the importance of child abuse and neglect prevention.
The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Peak season hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission rates are $11 – $21. Children under two are free and parking is free. For more information visit www.akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.
