Summit Choral Society Announces 36th Season: Milestones in Music

AKRON, OH (July 2025) — Summit Choral Society (SCS) proudly announces its 36th season, Milestones in Music, celebrating more than three decades of distinguished choral music education and performance for the greater Akron community. This 2025–2026 season features landmark performances, treasured traditions and exciting new opportunities for singers of all ages. Season highlights include a remarkable tour by auditioned invitation to sing in the National Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This milestone event will spotlight Akron’s talented young vocalists on one of the world’s most prestigious stages and is a testament to the national awards and recognition earned by SCS’s award-winning children’s programs. Locally, SCS will present the beloved Christmas Candlelight Concert Series on December 19 and 20 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Akron, featuring the Children’s Choir Program and Metropolitan Chorus. The Metropolitan Chorus will present masterworks including John Rutter’s Gloria at this December holiday tradition as well as Mozart’s Requiem in May during the 2025–2026 season.

    A fantastic evening of themed fun, fine dining, performances and fundraising
  • Concert for the Holidays | December 2025 | Akron-Summit Public Library Auditorium A festive evening featuring performances by the Children’s Choir Program.
  • The Nutcracker Preshow Performance | December 5–7, 2025 | Palace Theatre, Canton, OH
    A collaborative performance with Canton Ballet and Canton Symphony Orchestra
  • Splendid Serenade | May 2, 2025 | 4PM | First Congregational Church, Akron
    Requiem, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  • Sounds of Spring | May 13, 2025 | 6:30PM | Summit ArtSpace

Community events and family programming continue with Summer Music Camp: Frozen - Snow in Summer! July 7–10, Christmas in July on July 25 and the Akron RubberDucks National Anthem Sing on September 4 at Canal Park Stadium. For Akron’s music enthusiasts and their families, Sing With Me sessions return this Fall and Spring, along with seasonal rehearsals for the Children’s Choir Program and Metropolitan Chorus.

Summit Choral Society continues to actively enroll singers from birth through elder adult for its full range of programs:

  • Sing With Me (birth – age 5)
  • Summer Music Camps (grades K-12)
  • Children’s Choir Program (grades K-12)
  • Choral Scholars Program (collegiate age)
  • Metropolitan Chorus (ages 18+)
