Polymer Palooza Returns to Downtown Akron on June 7
May 29, 2025, AKRON, OH – From the rubber in your sneakers to the plastic in your water bottle, polymers are all around us! Explore the world of polymers and their role in everyday life at the second annual Polymer Palooza, a free community event presented by the Akron Children’s Museum, the City of Akron and Lock 3, the Greater Akron Chamber and Polymer Industry Cluster.
WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm
WHERE: Akron Children’s Museum and Lock 3*
WHAT: Get ready for an exciting polymer science extravaganza featuring hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, and interactive STEM experiments that bring polymers to life and ignite curiosity about polymer science and STEM careers!

Admission to the museum and the Polymer Palooza event is free for everyone. Each attendee will receive one coupon for one free smoothie to redeem at The LockStop Cafe, courtesy of Lock 3.
Polymer Palooza is a collaborative effort to educate and engage children, families and the community in the science and impact of the world of polymers in our everyday lives and ignite curiosity in youth about polymer science and careers in STEM. Other event activities include face painting, yard games, live entertainment by DJ Crisp, and a special appearance from Akron Children’s Museum Monsters, Polly Polymer and Rubbert.
Executive Director, Traci Buckner said "Polymer Palooza shows the power of community and collaboration with The City of Akron, The Polymer Industry Cluster, and the Greater Akron Chamber. Together we're opening children's eyes to the fascinating world of polymer science that surrounds us every day. We're excited to do our part to help build tomorrow's innovators right here in Akron."
In addition, there will be vendors including Smithers-Oasis, The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Scouting America Great Trail Council, Society of Plastics Engineers, STEM Playbook, Alterra, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), Akron Rubber Development Laboratory (ARDL), Chroma Fun Face Painting, ACS, Rubber Division ACS, Summit ESC STEAM Leadership Cadre/Coventry Local School District, and The University of Akron.
