From the historic holiday window displays in the O’Neil’s building complemented by the Curated Storefront displays in Polsky's, to the Lock 3 Winterfest activities (ice skating, polar putt-putt, Breakfast with Santa), to holiday shows at Akron Civic Theatre and EJ Thomas Hall, downtown Akron comes alive in the wintertime.

Winterfest - Lock 3

Lock 3's most popular feature is the 10,000 sq. ft. ice rink. Ice skating is open through Feb. 19 six days a week (Tue-Thur: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fri-Sat: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sun: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; special hours on holidays). Skating is $4 (includes rental) or only $2 with your own skates. Don't miss special themed skating nights with a live DJ spinning tunes from your favorite decades starting at 6 p.m. - Skating to the 80s (Sat. Jan. 5); Totally 90s (Sat., Feb. 8)

Also Enjoy 9 holes of indoor putt-putt golf with the Polar Putt Putt course fit for all ages. Cost is $3 for 9-holes. Ages 3 and under free. Golf operates the same hours as the skating rink.

New this year are ice bumper cars sharing the rink with skating during specific shifts during the week and weekends. Individual reservations are $10 per car for a 10 minute ride. Group rates are also available. Bumper cars operate Tuesday-Saturday from 3-7 p.m. and Sunday from 3-6 p.m.

Breakfast with Santa is held on Sat. Dec. 15 and 22 from 9:30 a.m. –11:30 a.m. and Sun. Dec. 9, 16, 23 from 9:30 a.m. –11:30 a.m. and includes breakfast, entrance to the Akron Children's Museum, ice skating, skate rental, Polar Putt-Putt and photo opportunities with Santa and costumed characters. Cost is $15 for children and $10 for adults.

The 3rd annual Elfcon is scheduled for Sat. Dec. 15 from 5-9 p.m. Join in for ELF the movie, drinks, candy, candy corn, candy canes and maple syrup. Prizes are awarded for best costume, have a spaghetti eating contest and more. Admission is free and all lovers of Elf are welcome.

A special screening of a Nightmare Before Christmas is Friday, Dec. 21 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Enjoy the movie, drink specials, pumpkins and Christmas lights. Admission is free.

Enjoy the 4th annual Cottage Crawl on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1-6 p.m. with fire pits, food and all Akron beer.

Bring the little ones to the Superhero and Princess Weekend on Sat., Jan 26 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This event includes breakfast or lunch, entrance to the Akron Children's Museum, ice skating, skate rental, Polar Putt-Putt and photo opportunities with costumed characters. Cost is $15 for children and $10 for adults.

Gone to the Dogs Weekend is Sat., Feb. 9 and Sun., Feb. 10 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This event includes breakfast or lunch, entrance to the Akron Children's Museum, ice skating, skate rental, Polar Putt-Putt and photo opportunities with costumed characters. Cost is  $15 for children and $10 for adults.
