There's a new event in town: 3rd Thursday debuts on June 15

Category: Downtown Akron Blog

As an evolution of the long-running Akron Artwalk, 3rd Thursday is a new monthly event showcasing art, culture, cuisine and entertainment downtown. The city of Akron trolley will loop through eight stops providing visitors the opportunity to visit more than 20 destinations for art, music, shopping and dining. The event route stretches from the Northside District to The University of Akron's Myers School of Art.

This event will introduce visitors to independent destinations, events and activities that establish Downtown Akron as an arts and culture destination.

Each month has a different theme, so we encourage guests to come often and experience something new every time.

3rd Thursday dates and themes
Thursday, June 15: Blossom and Bloom
Thursday, July 20: Peace, Love & Art
Thursday, August 17: Akron's Music History
Thursday, September 21: Art Fashion and Design
Thursday, October 19: Day of the Dead
Thursday, November 16: Thankful Thursday
Thursday, December 21: Winterfest

And because we know the Akron Artwalk still has a place in the hearts of local residents as a destination for the first Saturday night of the month, Summit Artspace is continuing the Artwalk tradition at their location on East Market every month from 5-9 p.m.

During Artwalk, artists will talk with visitors about their craft and be showing their latest pieces. You may even catch some of them creating. Many of the studios double as shops so you’ll be able to browse the artwork for sale. For now, the event is within Summit Artspace, but organizers plan to announce more stops and locations to be added in the coming months.
