It’s officially the spookiest, coziest season of the year, and downtown Akron’s bars and restaurants are prepared with menus full of warm seasonal beverages—whether in temperature or flavor. Pumpkin spice is a given this time of year, but our downtown establishments go above and beyond to create drinks that are creative, unique, and deliciously autumny. Read on to see what they’ve got.

Sweet Mary’s Bakery

Our pick: The pumpkin spice latte

Sweet Mary’s pumpkin spice latte is made fresh, from scratch, with real pumpkin, warm autumn spices, and brown sugar. We dare you to take a sip and not want to get yourself to the nearest pumpkin patch in your softest scarf.

Also try: The hot apple chai-der, golden milk latte, candy corn latte, butterscotch latte, fudgey hot cocoa, and red velvet mocha.

Stop into Sweet Mary’s Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to give these drinks a try.

Chameleon Cafe

Our pick: The Brown Butter Toffee Utopia

Chameleon’s Brown Butter Toffee Utopia is a decadent iced white mocha topped with brown butter toffee cold foam. It’s perfect for those autumn days that are a little warm, but still leave you wanting something seasonal.

Also try: The pumpkin chai, pumpkin spiced latte, campfire cold brew, and pumpkin butter shaken espresso.

Chameleon is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Muggswigz

Our pick: The Lumberjack

This one is for all the tea drinkers out there. Don your coziest flannel, head to Muggswigz, and sip on this chestnut flavored black tea latte that’s sweetened with vanilla and honey syrups. Chopping wood afterward behind a remote cabin is optional.

Also try: The hot caramel cider, baklava latte, pumpkin pie latte, turmeric latte, and pumpkin pie smoothie.

Visit Muggswigz Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Evelyn’s Coffee

The cookie butter latte from downtown Akron’s very own Vietnamese coffee shop tastes exactly like it sounds—a flavor combination of rich coffee and comforting cookies. It’s such a cozy drink, we just can’t even. 

Also try: The snickerdoodle chai, pumpkin chai, and pumpkin spice latte.

Evelyn’s is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Tea Lady

Our pick: The pumpkin spice tea

The Tea Lady’s pumpkin spice tea is an organic black tea blended with cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. When paired with a warm scone, it’s a match made in heaven.

Also try: The blueberry merlot herbal retreat tea.

Book a reservation with The Tea Lady Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Baxter’s Bar

Our pick: The apple butter old fashioned

The old fashioned is such a classic drink. Try this festive remix of the old classic from Baxter’s Bar. The apple butter in the recipe mellows the bourbon and is sure to keep you nice and toasty as the nights grow cooler.

Also try: The Autumn Pear, dirty chai, pumpkin martini, PSL, Pear Collins, Ginger Snap, autumn punch, and spiked cider.

Stop by Baxter’s for a drink Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Barley House

Our pick: The Peach Cobbler

The Peach Cobbler cocktail at Barley House features Tito’s vodka, butterscotch schnapps, and peach puree, with a cinnamon sugar rim. What’s to like more than a beloved early autumn dessert in drink form? We’ll wait.

Also try: The orange Kentucky mule, apple cider mimosa, espresso martini, and blueberry gin & tonic.

Barley House is open Monday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Cilantro

Our pick: The pumpkin spice mud slide

Cilantro’s pumpkin spice mud slide is a creamy blend of Bailey’s pumpkin spice, vanilla Smirnoff, and Kahlua—all topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. If you’re a fan of pumpkin pie, this mud slide will not disappoint.

Also try: The autumn apple pie tea.

Visit Cilantro Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Northside Speakeasy

Head to one of the most intimate, atmospheric cocktail bars in downtown Akron for an autumny spin on a classic sidecar cocktail. We bet you won’t be able to have just one.

Also try: The smoked maple cider, pumpkin spice martini, and campfire old fashioned.

The Northside Speakeasy is open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Perfect Pour

Our pick: The s’mores cocktail

Sure to take you back to simple times around the campfire, this special, chocolatey fall beverage from Perfect Pour features a toasty marshmallow on top and graham cracker crumbs around the rim.

Also try: The pumpkin spice martini, espresso martini, and maple bourbon mule.

Perfect Pour is open from 11 a.m. to midnight every day of the week.
