Cliff Deveny, M.D., is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Summa Health, one of the largest integrated healthcare delivery systems in Ohio. Encompassing a network of hospitals, community health centers, a health plan, a physician-hospital organization, a multi-specialty physician organization, research and the Summa Health Foundation, Akron-based Summa Health is nationally renowned for excellence in patient care and for exceptional approaches to healthcare delivery.

Prior to assuming his leadership role at Summa Health in March 2017, Dr. Deveny was Senior Vice President for Physician Services and Clinical Integration at Catholic Health Initiatives in Englewood, Colorado, from 2011 to 2016. After leaving Catholic Health Initiatives, he worked in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he served as President of Locus Health, a company that develops software solutions to enable healthcare organizations improve their population health efforts.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Deveny spent more than 20 years at Summa Health in a variety of clinical and senior leadership roles, including President of Summa Physicians Inc., Vice President of Clinical Services and Service Lines, and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Deveny is a clear leader in population health, and an advocate for its vision of increasing the value of care by improving health while reducing costs. In his role at Catholic Health Initiatives he led a population health initiative, establishing 12 regional clinically integrated networks.

Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Deveny is an experienced physician and healthcare administrator with a proven track record in dealing with complex health system operational and physician alignment issues.

Dr. Deveny earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo Medical Center. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry.

A graduate of Akron’s Firestone High School, Dr. Deveny has deep roots in the city and is a committed and involved member of the greater Akron community, including his work on the boards of Friends of the Summit (91.3 FM) and the Greater Akron Chamber. Dr. Deveny also serves as Chair of the Ohio Hospital Association Board of Directors. In addition, Dr. Deveny serves on the board of Renown Health, Reno, Nevada.

Daryl Tol is President of Health Assurance Transformation Company (HATCo), a platform created by global investment and transformation company General Catalyst to transform health systems into resilient, vibrant organizations. In partnership with leading technology companies, HATCo aims to achieve the promise of GC’s vision for health assurance: evolving healthcare from a “sick care” system to a proactive system designed to help people stay well, and make quality care more affordable and more accessible to all.

Daryl is responsible for driving, operationalizing, and expanding HATCo Services, a network of strategic partnerships with 23+ health systems and GC portfolio companies to share best practices, provide strategic advisory services, and scale impact to effect lasting change in the U.S. healthcare industry. In addition, HATCo has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Summa Health, to create a new system of community-based, lifelong healthcare to serve as a blueprint for broader healthcare transformation in the US and beyond. Daryl is leading the integration and transformation planning with Summa Health to fulfill that vision.

Having served most recently as president/CEO of AdventHealth, a non-profit health care system serving millions of patients annually, Daryl has deep healthcare experience, giving him a unique insider’s perspective.

Daryl received his BS in business administration and management from Walla Walla University and received his MS in healthcare administration from Loma Linda University.
