Trick or Treat, Local Music & Food, Free Showing of “Hocus Pocus” Coming to Downtown Akron During Fall Fest

October 5, 2022, Akron, OH — Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) will host Fall Fest on Saturday, October 22 from 5 – 9 pm on Cascade Plaza and along Main St. The Halloween-themed event will feature Trick or Treat Stations nearby on Main St., music by local zydeco band Mo’ Mojo, food, a fire pit lounge, and a free showing of the popular 1993 movie, Hocus Pocus. More information about Fall Fest is available at https://bit.ly/FallFestAkron22.

DAP Communications Director Dominic Caruso says, “Fall Fest is a big part of a weekend of activities on Cascade Plaza. On Saturday, Fall Fest will be a great party for all ages, with music, pumpkin decorating, food from Totally Baked Pizza, Bereka Coffee and Kitchen, and Essential Dipped Delights. Plus, Lepley and Co. flowers, along with other Northside Marketplace vendors, will be there with locally-made creations. And then Sunday is our downtown Akron Diwali Festival, which should be a beautiful celebration led by Indian, Bhutanese, and Nepali members of the North Hill community.”

Fall Fest’s Trick or Treat stations will be presented by various downtown businesses and organizations, including Akron METRO RTA, which has plans to bring a haunted, but friendly, bus to the event. In addition to being at Fall Fest, METRO RTA will offer free fixed-route fares to and from the event to riders who show the event flyer to the driver, either in printed or digital form. For routes and times, visit akronmetro.org.

METRO RTA Director of Public Relations and Marketing Molly Becker says, “Being able to offer free rides to community events is part of our mission to keeping people connected to our community when possible. We are always looking for family fun events to partner with and this is a great opportunity.”

Fall Fest on Cascade Plaza is free and open to all. Free activities from 5 to 7 pm include Trick or Treat stations, photobooth, pumpkin decorating, a roaming magician, face painting by local artist Imani Brantley, music from Mo’ Mojo, a fire pit lounge, and the screening of Hocus Pocus, which begins at 7 pm.

DAP will have local craft brews and specialty drinks available for purchase in the Shed on the plaza.
