The Me I Seldom Share: A Portrait Project

Akron – The Box Gallery of Artists of Rubber City opens The Me I Seldom Share, a Portrait Project, February 21, 2020, on the 3rd floor of Summit Artspace in downtown Akron. In this exhibition, photographer Don Parsisson explores the moments prior to our interaction with other people through the faces that mark that interlude. It is in that moment that our face is truly neutral, truly private; devoid of any affect that we present to others. The exhibited photographs seek to capture that fleeting face, the one we seldom share.

Meet the artist at the opening reception, 5 - 8 p.m., Friday, February 21.

The show runs through March 28 and in addition to opening night February 21, 5 - 8 p.m., can be viewed during the following gallery hours: Thursdays and Fridays 12 - 7 p.m., open until 9 p.m. for 3rd Thursday March 20, Saturdays 12 - 5 p.m., and Saturday March 7th Artwalk until 9 p.m.

Artists of Rubber City operates the Box Gallery on the 3rd floor of Summit Artspace, presenting six solo shows annually. Additionally, Artists of Rubber City presents two group exhibitions annually highlighting the work of dozens of local artists from novices and students to veterans and professionals: its Member Show, and the regional juried show.

Artists of Rubber City, a nonprofit member based visual arts organization founded in 1978, has long been a diverse group of artists, reflected in the variety of media and styles of its membership.

Summit Artspace is located at 140 E. Market St., Akron.
