Akron Zoo to host Wild Lights this holiday season

The Akron Zoo will host their third annual Wild Lights, presented by Akron Children’s Hospital. The holiday lighting event will run Nov. 23-25, 30, Dec. 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 21-23 and 26-30 from 5-9 p.m.

The zoo will be decorated with dazzling lights and lighted displays. There will be themed weekends that will include costume characters, ice carvers and carolers from local schools. Mrs. C’s Sweets will be open for s’mores and other holiday treats, and the zoo’s Komodo Café will offer a special menu. The new Ice Beer Garden will also offer adult beverages for guests 21 and older.

New this year, the zoo will have an ice rink. Guests can ice skate for $5 per person, including skate rentals.
Through Dec. 23, Santa Land will be open for visits with Santa Claus. Guests can have the option to enjoy exclusive time with Santa by purchasing the new Snack with Santa add-on for $5 per person. By adding Snack with Santa to Wild Lights, families can enter the zoo at 4:15 p.m. and visit with Santa, snack on cookies and hot beverages and write a letter to Santa before the zoo opens at 5 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase at akronzoo.org or at the Akron Zoo’s box office. Akron Zoo members can purchase presale tickets 24 hours in advance for $9 for adults and $6 for children. Day-of tickets for members are $12 for adults and $9 for children. Non-Akron Zoo members can purchase presale tickets 24 hours in advance for $12 for adults and $9 for children. Day-of ticket prices for non-members are $15 for adults and $11 for children. Parking/shuttle fees are $3.
