Movies@Main for the Holidays
Movies on the big screen every Thursday at 6:30 pm. Relax and enjoy classics or recent blockbusters in Main Library’s auditorium. No registration is required. Free parking on weekdays after 6 pm.

December 1, 6:30 pm: Cash on Demand (1961) This Hammer suspense bank heist film is a clever retelling of A Christmas Carol, with bank manager Peter Cushing confronted by Andre Morell, as the thief who knows him all too well. Film noir in Christmas wrapping! 89 min.

December 8, 6:30 pm: Remember the Night (1940) Prosecuting attorney Fred MacMurray takes shoplifter Barbara Stanwyck home, so she doesn't spend Christmas behind bars. Complications ensue with a snappy script by Preston Sturges, 94 min.

December 15, 6:30 pm: An American Tail (1986) Don Bluth's animated Holocaust parable about the immigrant Mousekewitz family contains a heartfelt Hanukkah scene during the family's peril, G, 80 min.

December 22, 6:30 pm: A Christmas Carol (1951) One of the most beloved versions of the Dickens classic. Alistair Sim portrays Scrooge, with Hermione Baddeley as Mrs. Cratchit, 86 min.

December 29, 6:30 pm: One Way Passage (1932) William Powell and Kay Francis star in this melancholy, evocative tale of a terminally ill woman and a convicted murderer who share a pact to meet on New Year's Eve. It won an Oscar for Best Original Script and has Frank McHugh thrown in for comic relief. Go home afterward and cry over a Paradise Cocktail. 67 min.
