Details
The season kicks off with a whirlwind blast of emotional energy and dazzling imagery. At the starting line is arguably the most recognizable of all overtures… the William Tell by Rossini. A symphonic suite from Studio Ghibli’s iconic Howl’s Moving Castle follows, along with Dance of the Hours from Disney’s Fantasia (1940). Headlining our season debut is an autobiographical tour-de-force as romantically beautiful as it is deliciously dark: Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. Leonard Bernstein said it best: “You take a trip and you wind up screaming at your own funeral.”
Rossini—William Tell Overture (12 min)
Hisaishi—Howl’s Moving Castle (12 min)
Ponchielli—Dance of the Hours (9 min)
Berlioz—Symphonie fantastique (49 min)
