The Supertonics Flute Ensemble will perform carnival and beach-themed works by Raines, Joras, and McMichael, with influences from Stravinsky and Wilson, and include narration.

“Seven Memories” for Flute Choir by Robert Raines was inspired equally by Stravinsky’s carnival-influenced ballet “Pulcinella” and “Surf’s Up” by Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. For this program, the Supertonics flute ensemble explores those influences with a transcription of Pulcinella, a different look at carnivals with “Carnival Pieces” by Dane Joras, and a different view of the beach with “Beach Music” by Catherine McMichael.

Spoken program notes, poetry, and stories will be woven into the program.
