Did you play in band or orchestra in high school?  Is your instrument awaiting you in your closet? (Or at your parent’s house?) Here’s your chance to blow the dust off and relive some of your favorite musical experiences! Maestro Christopher Wilkins invites YOU to make music alongside the professionals on stage at EJ Thomas Hall. Community members will join members of the Akron Symphony in readings of some of classical music’s greatest hits in a casual, fun, social setting.

May 6, 2025 – On Stage at EJ Thomas Hall
6:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Stage is open for warm-up
7:00 P.M. – 8:15 P.M. Playing session
8:15 P.M. – 8:45 P.M. Break and mingling (light snacks)
8:45 P.M. – 9:30 P.M. Playing session

REQUIREMENTS:

• Open to amateur musicians age 18 and older who are able to read music and who play an instrument that is part of the standard orchestra instrumentation
• No audition required. All participants are placed on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Register online.
  • Applicants will be notified of their acceptance in the coming weeks.
• Accepted applicants must submit a $20 participation fee.
  • Practice parts will be sent with acceptance.
• Applicants we cannot accept will be refunded.
• Friends and family are welcome to attend. (And can sit onstage in the choir seats!)
• You don’t have to play everything. Sit in on the pieces you are comfortable with, and just enjoy the others!
