This concert is a crashing wave of pure orchestral brilliance. Cécile Chaminade’s Callirhoë brings irresistible charm to a fairy-tale romance, with music inspired by Mendelssohn. His A Midsummer Night’s Dream culminates in the most famous wedding march ever written. In Sibelius’ final work, music for Shakespeare’s The Tempest, storms rage and waves surge, sweeping us directly into the greatest of all musical seascapes, Debussy’s mysterious and magnificent La Mer. Its turbulent orchestral writing would leave traces seventy years later in John Williams’s score for Jaws.

All concerts take place at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, located on the campus of The University of Akron. Per guidelines set by the University of Akron, masks are optional for all patrons attending concerts at EJ Thomas Hall. Parking is FREE FOR ALL CONCERTGOERS. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the E.J. Thomas Parking Deck, Lot 27, and the North Campus Parking Deck.
