UA Theatre Holds Virtual Auditions for Woolf’s “The Waves”
Students and community members invited to audition for fall virtual theatre production
Akron, OH – The University of Akron School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration invites students and community members to audition for UA Theatre’s Fall MainStage Virtual Production, “The Waves,” written by Virginia Woolf, and adapted for virtual performance and directed by guest artist and UA adjunct instructor, Brain Schultis. Auditions take place Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM online. This production will utilize non-traditional, integrated, and flipped casting. Audition time slots will last for the full 60 minutes each evening. Appointments are preferred. The first of the MainStage productions in UA Theatre’s 2020-2021 Season, Woolf’s “The Waves” follows six friends at various points throughout their lives with lush and vibrant stream-of-consciousness monologues. This production will weave these stories to create an intimate virtual theatre piece that embraces the challenges of theatre in the midst of a pandemic – going back to the simple but profound foundations of the actor’s work – breath, sensual awareness, rhythm.
