The Ohio Justice Bus Keeps Family Law Matters Rolling with Free Legal Aid to Those in Summit County

Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Akron, Ohio – On March 8th, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM the Summit County Domestic Relations Court will host the Ohio Justice Bus at the Akron Bar Association (located at: 57 S Broadway St, Akron, OH 44308). The event promises to be a source of relief for individuals who are facing family law matters. At the event participants can find free legal assistance on matters such as divorce, custody, or parentage issues. Participants can also interact with community support organizations and have a unique opportunity to engage directly with the legal system.

At the heart of this event is a dedicated team of pro bono attorneys. The Ohio Justice Bus is committed to providing accessible legal aid to all and will also have attorneys available for questions regarding family law matters.

Adding to the significance of this event, Judge Cook will preside over a special session of the court, providing attendees with a rare opportunity to have their cases heard and addressed in a supportive and respectful environment. "Access to justice is a fundamental right that should be available to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances," said Katarina Cook, Administrative Judge of the Summit County Domestic Relations Court. "The Ohio Justice Bus is not just a legal clinic; it's a mobile legal aid office that allows legal aid and pro bono attorneys to travel to and provide legal services to Ohioans at no cost to clients."

Community partners’ participation plays a vital role in the success of the Ohio Justice Bus Event. Their commitment ensures that individuals receive comprehensive assistance, addressing not only legal concerns but also the underlying social and economic factors that can impact family well-being.

Thanks to Community Legal Aid, Summit County Child Support Enforcement Agency, Victim Assistance Program and local family law attorneys who volunteer through the Court. Their continued support makes this event possible.
