The Nightlight to Host a Free Documentary Film Screening about Boa Mistura, Madrid Mural Artists with Downtown Akron Connection

Crossroads is making its Akron debut following the film's world premiere in Madrid

Akron, Oh 5/13/2023 - The Nightlight, a nonprofit, independent cinema located in downtown Akron, Ohio, is proud to announce an upcoming free screening of Crossroads on Wednesday, May 17, at 6:30 PM. The film features the Madrid-based artist collective Boa Mistura and their impact on communities worldwide through public art interventions.

Pablo Ferreiro and Juan Juame of Boa Mistura will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A session after the screening to answer questions and share insights about their collaborative Akron mural, Roots of Rubber. In 2018, the Boa Mistura team worked with Akron community members and National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF) STEM Middle School students to create the concept and execution of the painting of STEM Plaza and the High Street garage installation thanks to Downtown Akron Partnership and Knight Foundation.

“It has been such a joy to welcome our friends from Boa Mistura back to Akron to refresh the Roots of Rubber mural on STEM Plaza,” said Suzie Graham, President of Downtown Akron Partnership. “This free film screening is a perfect opportunity to collaborate with a beloved community partner and show the crossroads of how art unites people from all over the world.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Boa Mistura and their film Crossroads to The Nightlight and to offer our audiences the chance to engage with the artists directly and learn more about their global impact on communities through art,” said Jenn Kidd, Executive Director at The Nightlight. “At The Nightlight, we believe that film has the power to inspire, educate, and connect people from all walks of life, and we are dedicated to providing a space where this can happen.”

This one-night screening of Crossroads is free, but seating is limited. To reserve tickets, visit or visit The Nightlight box office in advance.
