Summit Choral Society – New, Innovative Music Programming

September 8, 2020, Akron, OH — The musical ingenuity of Summit Choral Society’s (SCS) Metropolitan Chorus, Children’s Choir Program and Akron City Gospel Singers will continue this season despite impacts of COVID-19. SCS has quickly adapted to the challenging landscape of COVID-19 with new, innovative programming.

The 2020-2021 Season, fermata, kicked off on August 10 with a safe and successful Summer Music Session for members of the Children’s Choir Program. In early August, this event implemented safety protocols following guidance from national, state and local medical regulations and professionals along with guidance provided by national studies on singing and aerosol production. The Summer Music Session provided children the opportunity to come together and experience the positivity of music once again and included bucket drumming, Boomwhackers, xylophones, various pitched and non-pitched percussion as well as outdoor singing. SCS remains dedicated to providing high-quality music education and opportunities safely to the greater Akron community this season and beyond.

Summit Choral Society is proud to reside and rehearse in Summit Artspace, Akron’s Place for the Creative.

Season information is available on the website www.summitchoralsociety.org.
