Musica to host winter Flannel & Music Fest fundraiser for UA’s Art Bomb Brigade

AKRON, OH — January 30, 2020 — Akron’s favorite and very hip music club, Musica, will host FIVE of the most wildly entertaining bands in the region on February 15, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. for Art Bomb Brigade’s 3rd Annual Flannel & Music Fest fundraiser.

 

Please join Art Bomb and all their friends at Musica for bands and beards and contests and raffles and boots and art and bombs and laughs and bedazzles and mustache wax and limbo sticks and obviously FLANNEL. Lots of flannel!

 

Schedule of Events

7:00 p.m.         Doors open

8:00 p.m.         Rubber City Ukes and sing along (BYOB ukuleles)

9:00 p.m.         JD & Ken dualing (acoustic rock)

10:00 p.m.       Swell Tides (psych punk)

11:00 p.m.       Daveferatu & The Highland Squares (garage-surf-punk-rock)

12:00 p.m.       Zip-Zapp (psych rock)

 

All proceeds go to helping the Art Bomb Brigade purchase supplies and equipment to create more murals in the greater Akron region and to support the initiation of new programming.

 

Tickets for the event are $10.00. Pre-sale tickets can be found on Art Bomb Brigade’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1460776090766264/ or tickets can be purchased at the door.

 

Prizes will be offered for:

  • Best beard of all time
  • Most flannel ever worn by a human
  • Most limber person to do a Limbo in all of history

 

Other opportunities to win prizes at the event are possible through a 50/50 raffle and a huge mega-basket with local swag.

 

Flannel shirt donations will be collected for the Haven of Rest at the event.

 

Musica is located at 51 East Market Street in the Historic Arts and Culture District in downtown Akron.

Art Bomb Brigade murals have become landmarks in the region with works housed at the The Grand Exchange, Bounce Innovation Hub, Downtown Laundromat, Barberton Library, Community Support Services of Summit County, Chill Ice Cream Company, the Akron Sustainer, Echogen, Summit County Health Department, Countryside Conservancy Public Market, and Akron’s Historic Arts & Culture District.  

 

The Art Bomb Brigade is a community arts program run out of the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron. Supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the mission of the Art Bomb Brigade is to breathe new life into Akron neighborhoods through vibrant mural art.
