Mint Hair Collective now open in downtown Akron
Business is newest to open with DAP’s pop up program
Mint Hair Collective, a modern salon offering hair cutting, coloring and styling services, is now open at 70 E. Mill St in downtown Akron. Mint Hair Collective, the latest client in Downtown Akron Partnership’s pop-up program, aims to provide a relaxing and top-notch atmosphere for clients.
Mint is going into its first year of business with a goal of providing a premier luxury experience in downtown Akron. This new location is created from a collaboration between Andrew Johnson and Helaina DePace.
“Helania has been a hairstylist in northeast Ohio for 11 years. Her years in the industry have provided her a unique perspective on what clients are looking for when they choose a salon,” said Johnson. “She has dedicated herself to developing the perfect client experience. She has worked tirelessly to perfect the art of putting the client first and is thrilled to be leading a team of like-minded stylist in downtown Akron.”
The team at Mint are inspired by the art, music, restaurants and independent spirit of Akron. One of Mint Hair Collective’s core principles is to look for opportunities to be a part of the community by giving back and being involved in events and projects.
“Downtown Akron is filled with beautiful architecture and history that still resonates today,” said Johnson. “It is rare to find an area that is so filled with character yet is also easily accessible from multiple highways. We see how much work the city is putting into revitalizing its downtown. We know it will only grow more and we are excited to be a part of that growth.”
DePace and Johnson have taken the time to create an inviting space with contemporary and relaxing decor. The salon’s staff are ready to answer questions and provide clients with a luxury experience. The salon is equipped with the latest amenities, a relaxed and friendly vibe, professional expertise and cutting-edge services. The team is committed to providing a luxury experience from the moment clients walks through the door until the end of the appointment.

The Downtown Akron Partnership pop-up program began in 2015 provides rental assistance for the first six months to new businesses in the district. Since its inception, nearly 40 new businesses have opened and range from retail and businesses, to vendors in the Northside Marketplace. Phase four is supported by Burton D. Morgan Foundation. Any new business, not just retail storefronts, interested in space available in the Special Improvement District is eligible for the program.
