METRO RTA to Host Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic May 21.

May 14, 2021, Akron, Ohio — In partnership with Summit County Public Health, METRO will host a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic at its Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center (631 S. Broadway St., Akron) Friday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary to attend. Attendees should be age 18 or up and bring I.D.

METRO is offering free transportation to and from vaccination appointments and/or sites with proof of a digital or printed copy of a day-of appointment or pop-up event flier.

“We know that there are people who are still hesitant to get vaccinated,” said Summit County Public Health Commissioner Donna Skoda. “We want to connect with people and have personal conversations to let them know that this vaccine is safe, effective, and could save their lives. Sometimes a personal conversation is all that is needed to get someone to change their minds about being vaccinated. We want to thank METRO for their support and providing us this opportunity to connect with and vaccinate more residents.”

Those who receive vaccinations at the METRO pop-up vaccination site will receive a 7-Day bus pass via EZfare, METRO’s mobile ticketing app.

“This event is the result of a successful partnership between METRO and Summit County Public Health,” said Claire Merrick, Public Relations Manager. “Transportation should not be a barrier to receiving life-saving vaccinations, and we hope this will alleviate that burden for our community members.”
