METRO RTA Contract Negotiation Update

November 3, 2021, Akron, Ohio — METRO RTA and Transport Workers Union Local 1 (TWU) are continuing to negotiate a contract and are working towards a successful resolution. The next scheduled meeting is today.

While METRO has not been served a valid Notice of Intent to Strike or Picket by the TWU, METRO has reason to believe the TWU may strike and/or picket starting tomorrow, Thursday, November 4. As a result, METRO encourages passengers and the public to continue checking for updates at akronmetro.org or METRO’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Riders are also encouraged to make other contingent transportation arrangements if necessary or appropriate. METRO will continue bargaining in good faith and is hopeful for a fair and equitable contract for all parties and for the communities we serve.
