METRO Regional Transit Authority Welcomed Local Health Department Onboard to Highlight COVID-19 Safety Initiatives

Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Akron, OH — On October 19, 2020, representatives of Summit County Public Health (SCPH) joined METRO CEO Dawn Distler to ride buses for Official-ly Onboard, a METRO initiative designed to invite local officials and prominent members of the community onboard with Distler for conversations about public transit in Summit County.

Joining Distler was SCPH Health Commissioner Donna Skoda and Assistant Health Commissioner Tonya Block, along with METRO Board of Trustees President Robert DeJournett.

A proud participant of the American Public Transit Association’s Health & Safety Commitments Program, METRO’s goal was to highlight safety initiatives, policies, and procedures it is adopting to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We are fortunate to have a great partnership with our amazing Summit County Public Health team,” said Distler. “Thanks to their valued input and guidance, we are confident we can continue providing our essential services safely and consistently.”
