Judge Ron Cable Named Akron Municipal Court’s Presiding Judge for 2022
Akron, Ohio, January 4, 2022 – Judge Ron Cable will continue to serve as the administrative/presiding judge of the Akron Municipal Court in 2022. He was the administrative/presiding judge in 2021 as well.
In this role, Judge Cable will continue to oversee the court’s administration, docket, and court calendar, as well as the observance of the rules of superintendence and the timely reporting and termination of all cases in the court.
Judge Cable was first elected to the bench in November 2017 and again in November 2019. He graduated from The University of Akron with a B.A. in Political Science and from The University of Akron School of Law with a Juris Doctor. Judge Cable also studied at the Capital University School of Law.
Prior to being elected to his current position with the Akron Municipal Court, Judge Cable served as a magistrate at both the Summit County Juvenile Court and the Summit County Domestic Relations Court.
In addition to his caseload, Judge Cable presides over three specialized dockets/programs at the Akron Municipal Court: Family Intervention Court, Restore Individual Self-Empowerment (RISE) Court and the Connect Program. Judge Cable created RISE to help adult female victims of human trafficking, prostitution and sexual exploitation. RISE was the first endeavor in Summit County for adults facing this issue.
“2022 will be a big year for our Court,” said Judge Cable. “Construction on our new courthouse is slated to begin this year and we are set to launch our new case management system this summer. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Akron Municipal Court and celebrate these positive changes that will benefit all court users.”
The six Akron Municipal Court Judges elect the administrative/presiding judge each year. Judge Cable was chosen unanimously for his second term as administrative/presiding judge.
Judge Cable and his wife are the proud parents of three children. The family resides in Akron.
