July 10, 2022 – AKRON OH :  JILLY’S MUSIC ROOM announces its participation in 2022’s Independent Venue Week, taking place July 11-17.

This summer, Independent Venue Week brings together venues, fans, rising and established artists, promoters, labels, media, and tastemakers for a series of shows curated by hundreds of independent venues and promoters. Celebrating its fifth year stateside, 2022’s program highlights the locally-owned and operated live performance spaces that serve as the cultural and economic backbone of major cities and small towns across the country.

“We are so proud to be part of this weeklong event – for the 5th consecutive year – that celebrates independent venues; their contribution to local arts and culture economies and their commitment to nurturing and promoting regional talent and original artists,” says Jill Bacon Madden, Owner & Chief Vibe Officer of Jilly’s Music Room. Adding, “We’re showcasing some fabulous regional talent this year and we couldn’t be more excited to share these artists with you during Independent Venue Week.”

Jilly’s Music Room joins hundreds of stages from across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. to showcase the sector’s crucial role in the global music industry. These are the local stages that give performing artists a place to hone their craft, develop their stage presence, and launch careers.

“I wouldn’t be here without the independent venue. After performing in local clubs for years, it was the independent venues that were the first to book me to play for audiences beyond New Orleans,” explains 2022 Independent Venue Week Artist Ambassador Big Freedia. “Live music is still recovering from a tough few years. We need to support independent venues now more than ever.”

“There are no global artists without independent venues providing the first opportunity for them to shine,” explains Cecilie Nielsen, Senior Director of Special Projects at Marauder, the firm that runs Independent Venue Week in the U.S. “These businesses are the cultural touchstones of their communities and essential to the global music industry.”

As part of Independent Venue Week,  Jilly’s Music Room will be featuring performances by Point of No Return Improv (W 7/13 | 7PM), Jocef Michael Band and The Conway Brothers & Friends (F 7/15 | 8PM), and Wo Hop Madness with special guests Community Shoe (S 7/16 | 8PM).
