Celebrate Artists Sunday with Crafty Mart and Summit Artspace on November 28

Akron, OHIO (November 9, 2021) — Artists Sunday, celebrated the Sunday after Thanksgiving, is a national campaign encouraging shoppers to purchase from local artists and give unique items as gifts for the holiday season. This year, Crafty Mart and Summit Artspace are partnering to give Akronites the opportunity to shop for locally-made gifts downtown over the holiday weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Crafty Mart will host the 13th Annual Crafty Mart at Bounce Innovation Hub, where more than 70 local makers will have handcrafted goods for sale. There will also be DIY holiday workshops, a gift-wrapping station, food and drink, live music, raffles, and more. Crafty Mart will debut its Carbon Black Event Space at Bounce Innovation Hub, a renovated space for vendors to sell their work. Parking and admission to the 13th Annual Crafty Mart will be free.

On Sunday, Nov. 28 from noon – 5 p.m., Summit Artspace will have pop-up vendors and resident artist studios open in the building. Shoppers can choose from a variety of handcrafted gifts and visit fall exhibitions in the galleries along the way. Free parking is available in the lot off of Summit Street, and admission to the event is free.

Those who visit both venues will be entered into a drawing for a bundle of local handmade goods from Summit Artspace artists and Crafty Mart makers.

“As residents begin their holiday shopping, I urge them to consider supporting the many talented artists living and working in Summit County,” said Ilene Shapiro, Summit County Executive. “Purchasing gifts from Summit County arts businesses not only supports our local economy, it’s also a chance to gift beautiful, creative works to our loved ones.”

All federal, state and local Covid protocols will be followed at both venues. Masks are required indoors.
