Akron Zoo to Host New Halloween Event

September 30, 2020, AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo has adapted its fall plans for this year with a new Halloween event called Howl-O-Ween Celebration. Howl-O-Ween Celebration will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 and 31 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The zoo will also host member-only dates on Fridays, Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 4 – 7 p.m. for Akron Zoo members.

Howl-O-Ween Celebration will take the place of Boo at the Zoo, Akron Zoo’s long-standing fall event, for 2020 and will include COVID-19 safety precautions, such as limited capacity, frequent cleaning and disinfecting, etc. All guests, ages 10 and older, are required to wear a COVID face covering at all times when in the Akron Zoo.

During the event, guests can dress up in costume and visit themed selfie stations throughout the zoo. There will be opportunities for socially distant meet and greets with costume characters and all children will receive a pre-stuffed treat bag at the end of their visit. Guests with food allergies can request a non-food treat bag as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project.

The Akron Zoo will also offer a special time for guests with special needs to enjoy the event without loud noises or crowds. Zoothing Howl-O-Ween is Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Tickets are separate from general admission and a limited number of tickets are available.

All tickets must be purchased online in advance at akronzoo.org/howl-o-ween-celebration. To avoid overcrowding, tickets are available via time ticketing and guests must select a half hour period to enter the zoo.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $13 for children for non-members and Akron Zoo member adults are free and member children are $7. Infants under two are free, but will not receive a treat bag. A limited number of tickets are available each day, and this event can sell out.

Howl-O-Ween Celebration is presented by Acme Fresh Market.
