Akron Zoo Brings Back Popular Senior Event

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo is bringing back its popular event, Senior Safari, on Friday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Senior citizens, ages 62 and older, can enjoy discounted admission for the day at $7 per person. Senior caregivers will also receive a discount at $9 per person.

Throughout the zoo, 28 vendors will have booths to share information about different senior services available locally. Music from DJ Kenny Kidd will be available, along with complimentary coffee and water for seniors, while supplies last.

Senior Safari is presented by SummaCare and Summa Health. A limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge and a limited number of electric scooters are available for $25 per day. All rentals are on a first come, first serve basis.  

The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Summer hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and $10 for children ages 2-14.
