Akron Marathon Race Weekend Kicks Off with 20th Running of Kids Fun Run and FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay Events

WHAT:           

The Akron Marathon Kids Fun Run, presented by Akron Children’s Hospital and founding sponsor the City of Akron, is a non-competitive, free one-mile fun run for children 12 and younger, intended to teach participants that exercise can be rewarding and fun.

The Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health is excited to welcome runners ending their summer racing journeys during its marquee event, the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay. During the event, we are anticipating 7,000 participants and 2,000 volunteers.

6:00 p.m. – Race Start By Age Group
7:00 p.m. – Course Closes

 

The 20th running of the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay

Saturday, September 24, 2022

4:00 a.m. – Staff Arrives

5:30 a.m. – Race Announcements

6:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremony

6:59 a.m. – Wheelchair Division Start

7:00 a.m. – Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay Start

8:05 a.m. - First Half Marathon Finisher

9:15 a.m. - First Marathon Finisher

2:00 p.m. – Course Closes

2:15 p.m. – Lock 3 Closes

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES:

Winners in the FirstEnergy Akron Full Marathon, Half Marathon, & Team Relay will be available immediately upon finishing, as will any other requested finishers. You may interview and/or video them directly at the finish line location.

Officials from the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation, Summa Health, and FirstEnergy will be available for interviews on the day of the race.
