Akron Children’s Museum Hosts: All Aboard the Akron Express

ALL ABOARD THE AKRON EXPRESS MAKE AND TAKE TRAIN EVENT

April 16, 2024, Akron, OH. – All Aboard, Akron Train Fans! The Akron Children's Museum invites you to explore the wonder and excitement of the world of trains at its fourth annual train event, All Aboard The Akron Express, sponsored by Synthomer Foundation and Auxin Group Wealth Management. This fan-favorite event takes place on April 20 and 21 from 10 am. - 3:30 pm. each day. Families may select a 2 hour time slot to attend.

Get ready for an interactive train event where children are encouraged to PLAY with trains, meet and talk with train conductors and engineers, and explore train exhibits with local experts and fellow train enthusiasts! Presented by the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and Burning River N Society, both event days include plenty of train and track play, train displays, a make-and-take workshop, and more! Kids of all ages will enjoy these fun-packed days with so many activities to choose from, including a special ride outdoors around the museum on the Little Roaming Railroad. Guests can also decorate and take home a delicious homemade cookie, explore STEAM-based activities, and engage in imaginative train play! 

Event tickets are $10 to $12 for non-members and $8 to $10 for members per day. Tickets include train activities, make-and-take projects, and admission to the regular museum exhibits. Tickets may be purchased online at https://akronkids.org/allaboard. Rides on the Little Roaming Railroad will be available between 10:00 am - 3:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for train rides are sold separately.

Executive director, Traci Buckner, expresses her excitement about presenting this interactive experience for both young children and adults, as trains have always captivated their fascination: “We are extremely grateful for the generous support of Synthomer Foundation and Auxin Group Wealth Management, who have partnered with us for this event!”

While visiting the museum, guests won’t want to miss the museum’s own Akron Express exhibit, including the captivating train running on a suspended track throughout the museum, made possible through generous donations from local collectors and train enthusiasts, Mr. Howard Pinsky, the late Dr. Marvin Cohen, and Mr. Gordon Hartschuh. The exhibit and this awesome event would not have been possible without their contributions and those of our dedicated Event Coordinator, Joy Edwards.
