Akron Art Museum marks the 35th season of Downtown@Dusk with local favorites in a beautiful garden space

An exciting line-up of local favorites makes up the Akron Art Museum’s Downtown@Dusk summer concert series. Now in its 35th season, Downtown@Dusk presents an eclectic mix of original music, including jazz, roots rock and blues in the museum’s Bud and Susie Rogers Garden. The free, outdoor concerts will be held rain or shine on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. from June 27 through Aug. 1, 2019.

Akron Art Museum Chief of Staff and Director of Special Projects Jennifer Shipman said, “We’re looking forward to a great season of music at the museum. And, we have some surprises planned, so you won’t want to miss a single performance this summer.”

Downtown@Dusk begins on June 27 with the museum’s Member Appreciation Night and music from Sammy DeLeon and his Latin Jazz Septet.

“Last year, our Member Appreciation Night was an event. We had a great crowd, great music and we were able to show our members our thanks with some free treats and special offers, so we want to build on that for this year,” Shipman said.

Upcoming concerts showcase local legends, 15 60 75 The Numbers Band, the Wanda Hunt Band in a one-night only reunion show, roots and Americana rock from Anne E. DeChant and an evening of jazz from Theron Brown Trio.

“The atmosphere of Downtown@Dusk is always relaxed and fun. The garden is a beautiful place to spend a few hours with friends or family enjoying the music and a cool drink. There isn’t another venue like it,” said Shipman.

Throughout the summer, the museum café will offer delicious food options, including ice cream novelties and ice-cold beverages.
