3rd Annual Downtown Akron Fall Fest to Bring Trick-or-Treat to Main Street October 19

September 26, 2024, Akron, Ohio — Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) will host the 3rd Annual Downtown Akron Fall Fest on Saturday, October 19, from 4 to 7 pm at Cascade Plaza. The Halloween-themed family event will feature trick-or-treat stations on Main St., costume contests for humans and their dog pals, photo opportunities with popular fictional characters including Captain America and Elsa, food and beverage options, stilt walkers, a magician and musical performances.

DAP President and CEO Kimberly Beckett says, “When we started Fall Fest a few years ago, we thought we’d draw a few hundred people for a small celebration, but to our delight we've drawn thousands of all ages from all over the city each year, rain or shine. It is further validation that downtown is a great place to spend time, and that the community wants to enjoy what the neighborhood has to offer."

Fall Fest’s trick-or-treat stations will be presented by various area businesses and organizations, some of whom include Akron METRO RTA, which has plans to bring a family-friendly haunted bus to the event, Akron Soul Train, Curated Storefront, Chill Ice Cream & Indulge Chocolates, Akron-Summit County Public Library, Insomnia Cookies, the Akron Children’s Police Department, the Society for Creative Anachronism Marche of Gwyntarian, Rubber City Cosplay and others. There will also be a free pumpkin-decorating activity at Cascade Plaza. At the trick-or-treat stations, teal pumpkin options will be available in addition to candy.

Last year’s festival brought roughly 1,500 visitors downtown and included visits from the Ohio Roller Derby, the Ohio Garrison of the 501st Legion, the Cleveland Ghostbusters, The University of Akron’s beloved mascot Zippy and a friendly Curated Storefront robot. Read about the 2023 event here.

Additional details about the 3rd Annual Downtown Akron Fall Fest will be shared on the DAP website.

Fall Fest is presented by Downtown Akron Partnership with support from the City of Akron, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and Ohio Arts Council.
