Metro broke ground in October 2008 for a new $17.2 million glass and steel bus transfer center on 8.4 acres of property on South Broadway and East Bartges streets.

This 14,000-square-foot facility, which opened in January 2009, shifted bus transfers from South Main Street in downtown Akron to the new location. The center has public restrooms, a small retail area, vending machines, a taxi stand and a waiting room that can hold 300 people.

METRO Regional Transit Authority enhances the quality of life for our community by providing innovative transportation that is safe, dependable, cost-effective and customer-focused... now and into the future.

The climate-controlled Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center offers an enclosed waiting area for 300 people. The building also houses METRO Customer Service representatives, restrooms, vending machines, an ATM, storage, office space, Greyhound Bus service, a cafe, and security in the form of more than 90 cameras plus a combined METRO Transit Police and Akron Police Department substation.
