"If you hear the dogs keep going. If you see the torches in the woods keep going. If there is shouting after you, keep going. If you want a taste of freedom keep going." Harriet Tubman

The Underground Railroad Experience will enable the audience to learn, watch and listen to the true-life stories being told by abolitionists, freedom seekers and conductors. Participants will take a walk and experience first hand reenactments of harrowing stories of true events that happened in their own backyard.

We are so pleased to have on the Society campus the John Brown House - a National Park Service Network to Freedom Underground Railroad site. This is the first stop on the Underground Railroad Experience.

Hear from John Brown, Lora Case, Levi Coffin, Eliza Harris and more.

The event includes walking about one mile on flat surfaces, grass, upstairs and through the woods. Please dress accordingly wearing comfortable shoes and gear for inclement weather as it will occur rain or shine.
