Missed the opening party for Inflection? Here’s a second chance this Saturday evening.
Join us this Saturday from 5-7 PM at Outside the Box in Akron’s Northside District for a little do-over of last week’s opening party, complete with light refreshments and music.
Then, every Saturday through October 2026 (weather permitting), the installation will be open and staffed for tours of this free walk-in immersive audiovisual art experience.
Created by Pittsburgh-based interactive/multisensory artist Ian Brill in collaboration with Akron artist, educator, and jazz musician Theron Brown, Inflection transforms one of our upcycled shipping containers into an ever-shifting world of light, depth, and sound. Theron’s newest album, Mr. Magnetic, will be available for sale at the event.
While you’re here, check out murals by Emily Bartolone, Avery Mags Duff, Alex Couch, and others, plus a newly unveiled mural by Natalie Petrosky, part-time Studio Art instructor at Kent State University.
Outside the Box is in the DORA district, so grab food and drinks from the Courtyard Marriott Northside, Jilly's, Luigi's, and NOMZ — we have plenty of places to sit and hang out.
Inflection was made possible through a grant to Akron Soul Train from The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Curated Storefront is the host organization for the installation. Like Curated Storefront, Akron Soul Train is celebrating its tenth anniversary! To learn more about Akron Soul Train, visit akronsoultrain.org or visit its gallery at 191 South Main Street, open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM–4 PM.
