The FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, and Team Relay is the marquee event of the Akron Marathon Race Series and the ultimate celebration of endurance, teamwork, and community pride.

This unforgettable course offers a foot-tour through the heart of Akron, highlighting historic landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and scenic Summit Metro Parks. Runners and walkers begin and end in downtown Akron, passing iconic locations including the Akron Art Museum, The University of Akron, Firestone Park, the Towpath Trail, Sand Run Parkway, Stan Hywet Estate, and Highland Square before reaching the iconic Blue Line finish at Lock 3.
Looking for a challenge to share? Tag your friends and conquer 26 miles together on 9.26 in the Team Relay or take on the full marathon. The 2026 event also marks the 20th year of the Half Marathon, celebrating two decades of runners and walkers reaching the Blue Line.
Whether you are racing, walking, relaying, or cheering from the sidelines, this event is a true celebration of Akron and the journey to the Blue Line.
Park smart on Friday & Saturday:
There will be road closures for the Marathon, along with No Parking zones. Don't get towed, check the Road Closure Grid and park smart(ly): https://www.akronmarathon.org/road-closures/

FRIDAY Closures are especially important to be aware of
S. Main St. between Bowery St. and State St. beginning at 8 am
W. Bowery St. between W. State St. and W. Exchange St. 2:30 pm – 7 pm
Rt. 59 East I-76 East to N. Main St. 5:30 pm – 7 pm
S. High St. between MLK Blvd and E. Mill St. beginning at 6:30 pm (ALL cars need to be cleared from High St. by 6 pm Friday)
No parking in the High/Market Parking Deck (next to the library) after 5 pm on Friday
