The Akron Society of Artists (ASA) is celebrating 95 years! The group will have an exhibit of its history on display at the Akron History Center during the month of September.
A reception will take place Thursday, Sept. 10 from 5 - 7 pm.
The display will salute notable ASA members like past president Russell S. Colley, B.F. Goodrich engineer and designer of the first spacesuit. Colley was also a talented watercolorist and versatile craftsman in silversmithing, gem cutting and jewelry design.
Since 1931, local artists have gathered to learn, create and grow as the Akron Society of Artists. Learn about the rich history of one of Ohio's oldest arts organizations—still active and vital today.
The Akron History Center is open Wednesday - Saturday, 11 am - 2 pm and select Sundays, including Sunday, Sept. 13, 1 - 4 pm.
