Dr. Rhea Boyd is a pediatrician, public health advocate, and scholar whose work explores the intersection of structural racism, inequity, and health. She practices clinically, teaches nationally, and conducts research focused on the impact of structural inequality on child and public health.

She collaborates with community-based and nonprofit organizations, public health departments, and academic institutions to investigate and address social inequalities that contribute to poor and inequitable health outcomes. Dr. Boyd serves as the Senior Advisor on Equity and Justice for The California Children’s Trust, an initiative dedicated to expanding mental health access for children and youth across California.

In partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation, Black Coalition Against COVID, and Unidos US, she co-developed THE CONVERSATION: Between Us, About Us, a national campaign designed to deliver credible information about COVID-19 vaccines to Black, Latinx, and Spanish-speaking communities.

Dr. Boyd graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Africana Studies and Health. She earned her M.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2017, she completed the Commonwealth Fund Mongan Minority Health Policy Fellowship at Harvard University’s School of Public Health, where she earned an M.P.H.
