Leadership Akron accepting applications for Leadership Akron Community Leadership Institute this spring

Leadership Akron is now accepting applications for its Community Leadership Institute (CLI). The Community Leadership Institute combines individual development with community engagement, emphasizing leadership skills that are valuable in both community and professional settings.

Local employers expressed an interest in providing a way for more of their employees to connect with Leadership Akron. In response, Leadership Akron successfully piloted an experience with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 2011 that blended leadership development and community awareness. Based on the success of this model and the positive feedback from local human resources managers, Leadership Akron is proud to have completed more than a dozen different CLI programs, including those with partner organizations.

The program runs on Wednesdays in March, April and May 2019. The five half-day sessions (8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) will connect participants with top decision makers and provide access to best-in-class community assets. CLI topics include: Board & Nonprofit Basics, Managing Networks & Communicating Effectively, Financial Sustainability & Social Enterprise, and Creating Shared Vision & Leading Change. Leadership Akron offers an open application process for its Community Leadership Institute.

“Our Community Leadership Institute is a great way to get involved with Leadership Akron’s programming,” said Barry Dunaway, president of Leadership Akron. “Individuals who are looking to enhance their leadership skills and open the door to community involvement opportunities should apply to the CLI.”

Applications are now being accepted through Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019. To learn more about the program, applicant criteria, and to apply, please visit https://www.leadershipakron.org/programs/community-leadership-institutes/.
