Grocery Grabbers provides personal shopping services from downtown Akron location

Phase four of Downtown Akron Partnership's pop-up retail program, supported by Burton D. Morgan Foundation, continues with the opening of Grocery Grabbers. Grocery Grabbers is an on-call personal assistant service specializing in grocery shopping and running errands.

Grocery Grabbers is headquartered at 333 S. Main St. in the Evans Building and is operated by Chrissy Spangler. She founded Spangler LLC in 2009 and launched Grocery Grabbers in Oct. 2011 with the dream of building a life and career through personal intuition, creativity and a commitment to her own vision of commerce and capitalism.

"By calling on our services, clients are able to shop multiple stores and finish a variety of errands through a quick phone call, text or email," said Spangler. "We pick up prescriptions, online orders, deliver gifts and so much more. The service is highly customizable."

The company's mission is to provide a service that enables people access to local retailers and grocers without leaving the home or office through an effortless and highly customizable experience.

"Our commitment to the unique needs of each client makes Grocery Grabbers an on-call ally to those who need or want to save time, reduce stress or regain independence," said Spangler. "Whether single-use or life-long, each client is our best client and will always be impressed with our superior customer service, attention to detail and expertise in product selection."

While the business has been operating for eight years, until opening this location, it was managed from a home office. Easy highway access and the energy of downtown is part of what drew Spangler to the neighborhood.

"Being downtown allows us to service the areas we currently do and positions us for expansion into other communities," she said. "I am already enjoying the active energy. Working from a home office can be a very isolated experience. I am energized by all of the local commerce buzzing around me."

The greatest assets to Grocery Grabbers are independent operation, customizability and accountability. As the trends in online shopping and grocery delivery develop, the company will adapt to new technologies and customer demands while holding fast to Spangler's mission and core values.

"I feel a comradery because there are a lot of different visions out here, but we all share the same drive to make these visions happen," she said. "As a native of this city and small business owner, I had no idea how proud I would feel in having my business reach this milestone and being headquartered in one of downtown's iconic buildings."

Grocery Grabbers operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Follow this service on Facebook @grocerygrabbersakron and online at GoGrabbers.com. Interested customers can also call 888-774-6472.

Morgan Foundation and includes any new business, not only retail store fronts, interested in space available within the Special Improvement District.
